LibSpeak is UP FLIPP’s major event which was pioneered last March 12, 2007 held at U.P. School of Library and Information Studies. Geared towards promoting awareness of the current state of Librarianship and Information Science and the new image of librarianship, this event was consisted of conference, essay writing and poster making contest only for the high school students for the past two years. Past speakers of the forum were Dr. Juan Buenrostro, Chief Librarian of Baliuag University and Ms. Eimee Rhea Lagrama, former president of the UP Library Science Alumni Association (UP LSAA). Now on its third year, with the inclusion of LIS students from various universities and colleges in the contest, this annual event aims to give people a new and better perception about the field of library and information science (LIS).
UP FLIPP’s Project at the Kalayaan Dormitory Library
November 1, 2008
Yes, there is a library in Kalai. Martin, my orgmate said to me that the House council of the said dormitory is asking for help for their Library in general. UP FLIPP then volunteers for their library implementation project.; a SEMBREAK activity hehe.
LIS - Ano Yun??????
October 21, 2008
UPLIFTING our future profession – that’s the main goal of UP FLIPP.
And one way of doing so is promoting the Library and Information Science course.
As part of our FLIPP Month celebration, UP FLIPP had opened an exhibit containing the history of our organization, committee and members pictures, some trivia about librarians and of course, a special panel promoting LIS. The exhibit was set up outside the UP Main Library ( it’s history! Hehe) for 2 days and in SLIS for another 2 days.
