The Future Sexiest Librarian: on the job training…
May 19, 2008
Homaygad! Here I am again,,, hiatus for 2 weeks, I think. Thanx Mica for the wake up message on my shoutbox. Hehe.
I’m here at the Learning Resource Center of SEAMEO Innotech, where the Future SEXIEST Librarian is currently having an internship at (yeah!). Supposed to be, I have completed my required hours but the HR said that they didn’t include our lunchbreak so for that, I need to fill up the 16-hour debt. Errr… I was kinda pissed-off, I thought I’ll be having my vacation already.
Summer classes is almost over! So what can I say about the future SEXIEST Librarian’s on the job training? Am I really being trained to become the FUTURE SEXIEST LIBRARIAN? Nuh-uh! I don’t need a training to become "sexy", it’s really my thing! hahaha… Actually, this is the first time I’ve ever applied the theories and principles that I’ve learned inside the LIS classrooms. Unlike my orgmates who have experienced being a student assistant in a library or my blockmates who had already taken up their LIS 181, I really don’t have a manual experience about cataloging, indexing, and other library works. Honestly, I was very nervous.
But good thing Kuya Jelo, the Librarian 1 in LRC, is still teaching the basics. I did like the training he gave me. My first day on the said library was so productive that I’ve done more than 1 task. Book Cataloging, online newspaper clippings, answering the phone on the reference desk, entertaining the clients,,, whoah! I’ve done that on my first day and it was a plus 10 "sexy" points merit. The next days were kinda tiring because we did the book inventories. Whew! Enough said? Haha. I’ve finished that task in abou, 2 weeks? Yayks! hehe. The sad part of it is that I didn’t had the chance to enjoy indexing ( my favorite subject). Oh well, I still have 150 hours next semester and I’ll demand my future head to give me a lot of indexing tasks! hahaha…
I’ll never forget that summer of 2008 for I’ve gained a lot. My experience here in SEAMEO Innotech is priceless (eventhough we have a transportation allowance and a 20php discount on meals, haha!). The training is concise but commendable and inimitable, I’ve learned a lot! I’ve gained knowledge, weight (errr, the bad part? haha) and of course, I’ve gained friends. I like to take this opportunity to thank my 4 co-trainees (Marj, Jen, Von and Wee) for being so friendly even though I am from the other organization. Hehe. I’ll never forget our lunckbreaks, coffee breaks, ‘wala lang’ breaks, ‘picture-picture’ break ( a love story! haha), jologs soundtrip, the dirty little mermaid, some serious talks about academic life, org life and ehem, love life. Haha. The atmosphere that they have created helped me to do a likeable performance and I really appreciate that.
Someday, IF EVER I’ve acheived that self-proclaim title, my experience in the LRC of SEAMEO Innotech has a part. It’s incomplete with out that.Yeah! Hahaha.
Hmmm… Naninibago ako! Aside from pure english ang mga paragraphs sa taas,, it’s kinda formal. Hahaha… Is this part of the outcome of the FSL’s internship? hahaha…

I hope you learned alot, and have fun on the side…In real working life, it’s far worst working everyday and doing the same thing. So habang you’re still a student: Carpe Diem! Sieze the moment. Have Fun. Be who you want to be. There is so much in store for you,so much potentials so cherish it. Nourish it and just again — Have Fun.
Kudos to all the LRC Trainees Summer 2008!
Salamat sa tulong.
